Premise:

The series begins in the year 2018. Humanity is colonizing the oceans, establishing small undersea farming, mining, and manufacturing communities. The United Earth Oceans Organization (U.E.O.), a military organization that polices Earth's final frontier, assigns the submarine, seaQuest DSV (Deep Submergence Vehicle) to keep the underwater peace. The crew is led by Captain Nathan Bridger, the original designer of seaQuest. The other members of the crew include Cmdr. Jonathan Ford, second in command of seaQuest, Lucas Wolenczak, a teenage genius, Darwin, an intelligent dolphin, Dagwood, a prototype GELF (Genetically Engineered Life Form), Tony Piccolo, a man with surgically implanted gills, and Dr. Wendy Smith, a telepath/empath.

In the third season, the crew were thrust forward ten years. A new captain took the helm, Captain Oliver Hudson.
