Premise

Firefly is about the ragtag crew of the Serenity, a firefly-class transport ship. The crew is led by renegade Captain Mal Reynolds, a veteran of the losing side in a galactic civil war.

News:

(9/22/05) - Sean Maher, who plays Dr. Simon Tam, will appear in an early episode of Ghost Whisperer, to be written and directed by series co-creator John Gray. Maher will play the spirit of a deceased man.

(07/19/05) - SCI FI Channel will air reruns of Fox's canceled SF series Firefly, including three episodes that never aired on Fox, starting July 22, in the 7 p.m. ET/PT Friday timeslot. It will be followed by new episodes of Stargate SG-1 at 8, Stargate Atlantis at 9 and Battlestar Galactica at 10. The channel will air the episodes in their intended order, beginning with Whedon's pilot.

(02/22/05) - Joss Whedon, director of the upcoming movie Serenity and creator of Firefly, told fans at WonderCon in San Francisco on Feb. 19 that he will oversee a three-issue Dark Horse series of Serenity comics as a prequel to the upcoming SF movie. "Dark Horse is putting out a three-issue prequel to the movie Serenity that will sort of bridge the show and movie for some people," Whedon, told the audience. "That's going to be coming out starting in the summer. ... It's going to be written by Brett Matthews [who authored Dark Horse Angel comics] from a story we're working on."

(6/18/04) At the Official Firefly Forum, Nathan Fillion has posted a message about his work on the upcoming “Serenity” movie.

(6/9/04) AICN has posted a script review for the upcoming movie.

(01/14/04) According to the website FireflyMovie.com, the DVD set of Firefly has sold "better than expected." Chris Buchanan, president of the production company Mutant Enemy, notes, "We are getting pretty close on the movie, and hopefully we'll have some 'official' news soon."
