News:

(11/10/05) - Wish there had been a Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 8? Your wish may be granted. Joss Whendon announced on the Whedonesque Web site that he will be writing a new "Buffy" series for Dark Horse Comics, which will be considered canon. Joss said:

"Speaking of Darkhorse Comics, they are starting a new Buffy comic, and as I understand it, it will take place after the end of Buffy and Angel and be canon in the Buffy world. And I understand it that way 'cause I'M WRITING IT. I'm kicking off the book with a four issue arc that finds Buffy -- you guessed it -- living in Italy with The Immortal. (Scott -- don't be mad I spoiled the announcement -- saying it means I have to finish it.) Then I'll be overseeing the book more closely, to make sure it remains true. Gonna be interesting. And it just might tie in to... The infamous Spike movie."

(10/27/05) - Marti Noxon, executive producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, recently spoke to SCI FI Wire about how the series' characters may live on in direct-to-DVD movies. "There are serious discussions going on about bringing some of the characters back and making a few movies that will go straight to DVD, but they will certainly be the quality they have always been," Noxon said.

"Joss is the king of jumping mediums, so it is an obvious step for him to do this," Noxon said. She said that some of the past writers, for example Drew Goddard, have been aked to turn in script ideas that would center on the minor characters. Noxon said that she doubts that Sarah Michelle Gellar would return as Buffy and also added that it will be tough to get Alyson Hannigan to return as Willow. But Noxon believes a film centered on Spike (James Marsters) or Angel (David Boreanaz) could do very well.

Currently Noxon is not writing any of the DVD movie scripts, but she may in the future. "If I get involved it would be for the Buffy-related films, not Angel, because I'm far more plugged into Buffy," she said.

(10/13/05) - According to Zap2it, a San Francisco performing arts group, CounterPulse, is running a live stage production of "Once More With Feeling," the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It will run October 20 through 23 and October 30.

(12/21/04) - According to Zap2It, Adam Busch (Warren) will appear in at least three episodes of Fox's upcoming supernatural drama, Point Pleasant.

(07/16/04) - James Marsters recently appeared on Australian television and said that he has been contacted by Joss Whedon to star in one of four television movies set in the Buffy Universe. According to Marsters, there are plans to do four movies with each focusing on a character from Buffy & Angel (Angel, Spike, Giles, and Willow). Either all four will be made or none would be made and so far he is the only one to commit.

(6/17/04) According to TV Guide, the animated Buffy the Vampire Slayer series is back on the drawing board. According to their sources, Sarah Michelle Gellar has chosen not to reprise her title role as Buffy. Creator Joss Whedon has signed on Giselle Loren, the video-game voice of Buffy, to voice the character. Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon and Anthony Stewart Head play the voices for their characters in the pilot (which is being revealed to potential distributors in July). It is also rumored that Dawn will be in the series.

Fanboy Planet has an interview with Jeph Loeb about the the animated series. One piece of info revealed is that the animated series is "Buffy Year One".
